Private Investigator School

I actually plan on being a commercial airline pilot after I get out of college. But I have to have another career to fall back on, so I’ll be a private investigator. How can I become a private investigator in New York? I’m in high school right now, so what classes would be good to take? What would be a good major to have when I go to college if I want to become a PI? Do they make a lot of money? How will I know if I’ll enjoy it? What exactly do they do? What else should I know about it? Thanks.
