Here, Vic is hired by Mr. Defonzio de la Giacalini, aka Mr. D, a wealthy man, (literally a bull in a china shop - check out the Ming Dynasty vase), convinced someone is out to kill him. Also present is his sultry daughter, Velma. But Vic is torn between his gigs as a Jazz Sax player and his investigative work. When he returns from the evening’s gig, Mr. D is dead. According to Bo Dietl, a retired New York City detective, FBI agents recorded a meeting last month in Aruba where van der Sloot told a lawyer for Natalee Holloway’s family that he would provide information regarding their daughter’s 2005 disappearance in exchange for money. Federal agents seized this opportunity to build a case against the man now suspected of two murders and decided to give him 000; however, once the agents gave van der Sloot the money, they, according to Dietl, failed to detain the young man. It is believed van der Sloot used the money to fly to Peru and attend a poker tournament where he met Flores and then, according to police, killed her in his hotel room exactly five years after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
